North Crawford/Seneca places fourth at Ridge and Valley Duals and seventh at Cashton Invite

The North Crawford/Seneca wrestling team traveled to Kickapoo High School on Thursday, Jan. 25 for the Ridge and Valley Conference Duals. NC/S finished in fourth place with a 2-3 record.

Round one saw Ithaca/Weston defeat NC/S by a score of 36-33. That was followed in round two by De Soto defeating NC/S 36-30.

The host school Kickapoo/La Farge defeated NC/S 48-36 in round three.

North Crawford/Seneca defeated River Ridge 33-24 in the fourth round of duals. Finally, in round five, it was NC/S beating Pecatonica/Argyle by a final score of 30-24.

Jaren Grimsled went 4-1 for NC/S, going undefeated at 106, before bumping up to 113 to face Pecatonica/Argyle’s Aiden Gruenenfelder, last year’s Division Three runner-up at 106 pounds. Gruenenfelder pinned Grimsled in 3:29.

Thomas Sprosty went 3-0 at 144 pounds and 0-2 at 150 pounds for NC/S. Sawyer Swiggum went undefeated on the night, going 3-0 at 190 pounds and 2-0 at 215 pounds.

The NC/S wrestlers were back in action on Saturday, Jan. 27 when they attended the Cashton Invitational, placing seventh out of 11 teams with 71.0 points. Earning first place finishes for NC/S in the scramble style tournament were Grimsled (4-0 at 106 pounds), Sprosty (3-1 at 144 pounds), and Swiggum (3-0 at 190 pounds).

NC/S is back in action on Saturday, Feb. 3 when they travel to Viola for the Scenic Ridge and Rivers Conference Tournament.
