Jill Leigh Gingerich, 72, of McGregor, died on Jan. 12, 2024, of natural causes surrounded by the love of her family.

She was born in Prairie du Chien, Wis., on Jan. 6, 1952, to Robert and Georgene (Ferguson) Dillman. Jill graduated from Prairie du Chien High School in 1970 and continued her education in cosmetology in Madison. She returned home to work at the Gingerbread House, along with her mother. On June 25, 1977, she married her loving husband, Dan. They would have three children together. She worked at Kwik Star in McGregor for 16 years, and then her true passion began: taking care of her grandchildren.

She will be remembered for her infectious laughter. She lit up every room even before she said, “hello.” She was a living angel with a big, generous heart. Jill was forever proud she cared for both her parents as their times came to an end. She was always present cheering when her grandkids had an activity. She was never happier than when she spent time with them. She was a phone call away for anyone in need. Her memory will live in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her husband, Dan; children Nicole (Robert) Corlett, Carrie (Rob) Shaw and Daniel (Aspen) Gingerich; sisters Jean Caluori and Susan Jassak (Tom Zizzo) and brother Robert (Tina) Dillman; and eight grandchildren, Addison, Makenzie, Elise and Peyton Corlett, Grace, Joel and Isaac Shaw and Bexley Gingerich. She is further survived by her uncle, Blair Dillman; mother-in-law, Betty Gingerich; special friend, Mary Ann Stemper; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; aunt and uncle, Bruce and Patricia Dillman; brother in-law, Mike Caluori; and father-in-law, Delmar Gingerich.

A celebration of life will be held June 23, at the Dousman House in Prairie du Chien, from 2 to 6 p.m.
