Seneca boys, girls basketball teams both drop games on the road to North Crawford

The Seneca Royals boys and girls basketball teams each traveled to Soldiers Grove on Thursday, Jan. 11 for a conference doubleheader with the North Crawford Trojans.

First up was the girls game, and the hosts came away with a 62-48 victory over the Royals. Seneca was led scoring wise by Aylah Baker with 16 points and Kylie Chambers with 11 points. Also adding to the Royals scoring total were Camryn Lenzendorf (8 points), Emma Manning (5 points), Rita Sime and Lydia West (4 points each). The Royals dropped to 0-11 overall, 0-6 in the conference while North Crawford improved to 4-8 overall, and 2-4 in the Ridge and Valley Conference.

Next up was the boys  game and the Trojans, ranked eighth in Division Five by Wissports.net, came out and controlled the game with a 40-27 first half before earning a 71-52 win to remain undefeated at 12-0 overall, and 5-0 in the Ridge and Valley Conference, while the Royals slipped to 4-7 overall, 2-3 in the conference. 

The Royals offense was paced by 12 points from Reggie George and 10 points each from Hunter Hagensick and Briar Wall. Also scoring for the team were Dawson Davidson (6 points), Jackson Konichek and Owen Oppriecht (5 points each), and Gage Wall (4 points).

Seneca returns home this week as the girls team host Juda on Tuesday night, and the boys will entertain Ithaca on Thursday, Jan. 18.
