Senior heavyweight Owen Callahan led the River Ridge wrestling team with a second-place finish at the 57th Annual Lancaster Wrestling Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 6, where the Timberwolves scored 81 total points to finish sixth in the six-team field.

Callahan, who has a season record of 17-9, scored 20 of his team’s 81 points on one pin and three byes in the six-team round-robin format. His one loss came to Brodhead’s Emmitt Allen, who pinned Callahan in a time of 2:24.

With no other wrestlers from River Ridge finishing in the top third of their weight class, fourth-place finishes went to 106-pound sophomore Cameron Wehrle (13-11), 120-pound senior Brady Burmeister (3-14), 138-pound freshman Cael Koenig (11-13) and 175-pound sophomore Tyler Breuer (7-13).

Junior Owen Bedward (4-11) placed fifth in the 132-pound bracket, as did sophomore Reese Drew (1-6) at 144 pounds, while freshman Braden Skaife (9-15) finished sixth at 150 pounds.

The Timberwolves are next in action on Thursday, Jan. 18 when they travel to Blanchardville for a dual with Pecatonica/Argyle and then again on Saturday, Jan. 20 when they travel to Arcadia to wrestle in the Arcadia Invitational.
