The Prairie du Chien boys basketball team hosted two home games last week, looking to get back on the winning side following a pair of tough losses at the Lewiston Auto Holiday Classic.

First up for the Hawks was Fennimore on Tuesday night. Following a back-and-forth first half that saw the Hawks playing from behind for most of the half, Prairie was able to send the game to the break tied 24-24.

The Hawks flipped the script in the second half and took the lead early on and worked to hold off every Fennimore rally as the Hawks pulled away late for a 60-51 victory.

Leading scorers for the Hawks were Tyler Harris (24 points), Nick McCullick (14 points), and Max Schneider (12 points).

PdC welcomed league leading Platteville to town on Friday, Jan. 5 looking to get back into the SWC race. The visiting Hillmen quickly jumped out to a 16-5 lead with 12 minutes left in the first half before the Hawks managed to claw their way back over those final 12 minutes of the half to make the score 31-30 at the break in favor of Platteville.

The Hawks kept it close in the second half, trailing by just 7 points with 5 minutes left in the game before the Hillmen used to a 16-6 run in the final 5 minutes to defeat the Blackhawks by a score of 70-53. Harris (19 points) once again led the Hawks in scoring with Schneider (10 points) being the only other Hawk to reach double figures in scoring.

Prairie fell to 3-8 (0-3 in the SWC) with the loss while Platteville moved to 7-2 (3-0) with the win.

Next up for the Hawks was a home game with La Crosse Aquinas on Tuesday night (weather permitting) before traveling to Richland Center on Thursday, Jan 11.
