Music was a lifelong passion. Ann was the choir director for St. Mary Catholic Church in Guttenberg. As a founding member of the Guttenberg German Band and ANZ’s Band, she traveled throughout the Midwest and Europe sharing her love of music with others. She was a talented pianist and played trumpet in the New Horizons Band in Cedar Rapids until the age of 91.
She is survived by her five children, Anne Wilk, Cedar Rapids; Terry (Cindy) Powers, Long Beach, Calif.; Tom (Nancy) Powers, Casselberry, Fla.; Mary (Mark) Rinehart, Cedar Rapids; and Kathy (Shawn) Moser, Hiawatha; 18 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren; siblings, Mary (Kevin) Carter, Dunlap, Ill., and Tim (Erna) Sullivan, Boca Raton, Fla.
Ann was predeceased by her husband, Don Powers, and three brothers, John, Pat, and Mickey.
The family wishes to thank those who provided outstanding care and joy during her final days, especially Visiting Angels, Gentiva and Heartland Hospice. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the New Horizons Band of Cedar Rapids (by mail: c/o Dick Bader 1100 Cress Pkwy, Hiawatha, IA 52233) and Camp Courageous (online or by mail: PO Box 418, Monticello, IA 52310).
