Bonnie J. Prochaska September 29, 1938-January 4, 2024

Bonnie J. Prochaska, age 85, of Janesville, died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2024 at her home. She was born in Prairie du Chien on Sept. 29, 1938, the daughter of the late Fritz and Tena (Bunders) Messerli. Bonnie married her favorite dancing partner and soulmate, Hubert “Hugh” Prochaska on Oct. 12, 1956. She and Hugh shared the love of dancing and country music. Hugh preceded her in death on April 8, 2021. Bonnie was employed at Parker Pen for over 36 years where she met many wonderful friends. In retirement, they continued to meet for lunch and took several bus trips together. She also loved reading, crocheting, taking walks, and watching ball games, especially the Brewers, Cubs, Wisconsin Badgers, and Green Bay Packers. Her most precious gifts in life were her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and she cherished the time they spent together. Bonnie was a life-long member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.
She is survived by her son, Michael (Tammie) Prochaska; two daughters, Debra Prochaska and Brenda (Richard) Lewis; five grandchildren: Jaysen (Jill) Cleasby, Kyle (Kailey) Prochaska, Ryan (Maren) Prochaska, Mackenzi (Aaron) Pann, and Kramer (fiance’ Megan Wegler) Lewis; 5 great grandchildren: Henry, Vivienne, William, and Owen Prochaska, and Leila Lewis; 2 sisters, Judy Messerli and Arlene Boots; and life-long friend and neighbor, Helen Socha.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 2 brothers, William and Frank Messerli; 2 sisters, Leila Messerli and Mary Jane Thomas; and special friend, Edna Bauer.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2024 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Milton Lawns Memorial Park. Visitation will take place on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the hour of Mass at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Memorials in Bonnie’s name can be made to either the American Cancer Society or Mercy Assisted Care Hospice.
