Joyce A. Koecke, age 79 of Prairie du Chien passed away peacefully on Monday, Dec. 25, 2023, at Garden View Place in Monona, IA. 

She was born in Havre de Grace, MD on Aug. 18, 1944, the daughter of William and Edna (Gentry) Giffing. 

She married Ethan Koecke on Nov. 9, 1963, at Bethel Methodist Church in Peach Bottom, PA. Joyce worked as a kitchen worker at Prairie Maison. She also worked at Advance Transformer in Boscobel for 25 years before retiring. 

She enjoyed camping, fishing, and riding the motorcycle with Ethan. 

Joyce is survived by her children Paul (Connie) Koecke and Carol (Christopher) Lehman; brothers Robert (Patricia), and Dale Giffing; sister Brenda (Jack) Liggins; grandchildren Jacob Koecke, Zoe (Adam) Sheets, Ella and Boden Koecke; 7 nieces and nephews, and 9 great nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 59 years Ethan; her parents, sister-in-law Barbara Ann and Mary Jean Guetzkow, brother-in-law Clarence Guetzkow, father-in-law Euguene Koecke, mother-in-law Mary (Steiner) Koecke, sister-in-law Dori Giffing and nephew Travis Giffing. 

A Memorial Service will be Friday, Jan. 12, 2024, at 11 a.m. at the Garrity Funeral Home Chapel, Pastor Hillary Burns-Kite officiating with inurnment in the Evergreen Cemetery, both in Prairie du Chien. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
