A pair of dominant wins over Clayton Ridge and South Winneshiek last week improved the MFL MarMac girls basketball team to a perfect 8-0 in the Upper Iowa Conference and 8-3 overall.

 

After only a three-point halftime lead, the Bulldogs out-scored Clayton Ridge 25-12 in the final two periods to win their Dec. 19 match-up 43-27.

 

Autumn Shaw hit five of her nine shots to lead the Bulldogs with 13 points. Her stat line also included four rebounds and a steal.

 

Hannah Bogdonovich chipped in 10 points and a team-high six steals along with three rebounds. Emme Wikner totaled nine points, four steals, three assists and two rebounds.

 

Against South Winn on Dec. 21, MFL MarMac pulled away early, leading 28-8 by halftime. The Warriors didn’t score more than five points in a quarter until the fourth. 

 

MFL MarMac won handily, 51-26, behind 40.9 percent shooting from the field. 

 

Bogdonovich led the effort with 14 points and had one each in the rebounds, assists, steals and blocks columns. Emma Driscoll put up eight points off the bench and added a pair of rebounds, while Wikner earned six points, two rebounds, an assist and a steal. Shaw and Ava Kishman each had four points and six rebounds.

 

The Bulldogs are off for winter break this week. They will return to action Jan. 2, at Decorah, then host Central on Jan. 5.
