The MFL MarMac girls wrestling team hosted its inaugural girls scramble on Dec. 21, welcoming teams from North Fayette Valley and Postville as well as Lancaster, North Crawford/Seneca and River Ridge from Wisconsin. The scramble included three rounds of wrestling, with each participant getting at least two shots on the mat.

Bulldog freshman Kennedy Bachman made the most of her 100-pound bouts, winning all three by fall in under two minutes. Sister Mackenzie Bachman went 2-1 at 125 pounds, with a pair of pins and a 5-0 decision loss.

Danica Friedlein (140 pounds) was pinned once and lost another match by 9-4 decision, but secured a fall in her final match of the night. Audrey Ruff also picked up a victory by fall at 170 pounds. She was pinned twice and lost a 9-4 decision in her other bouts.

Amelya Weigand (130) and Bayleigh Wood (135) wrestled tough in each of their two losses, and Kaylee Baker (145) put up a strong fight in three matches, but wasn’t able to come out on top.

MFL MarMac will be off this week for winter break, returning to the mat Jan. 5 for a tournament at Central.
