Prairie boys drop games at Lancaster and Mineral Point

The Prairie du Chien boys basketball opened up Southwest Wisconsin Conference play on Friday night with a 60-48 loss at Lancaster. The Flying Arrows lead 32-20 at halftime.

Lancaster improved to 4-1 overall, 1-0 in the SWC with the win, while  PdC fell to 0-2 overall, and 0-1 in the SWC. 

The Hawks next traveled to Mineral Point on Saturday to play the Pointers, who are currently ranked third in division four by the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association. 

The Pointers showed why they are so highly ranked by jumping out to a 15-0 lead on Prairie in the first half on their way to a 34-15 halftime lead. The Hawks were unable to cut into the deficit in the second half and the Pointers improved to 5-0 with a 68-30 win over the Hawks, who fell to 0-3. 

The Hawks are back home for a pair of games this week. Dodgeville comes to town for a SWC showdown on Thursday, Dec. 14, and then the Hawks will entertain Marshfield Columbus Catholic (ranked second in Division Five) Varsity game time for the Dodgeville game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. for Marshfield Columbus Catholic.
