The MFL MarMac women wrestlers continued to perform well in a pair of tournaments last week.

Freshmen Kennedy Bachman and Brooke Donlon each placed second in their respective weight classes at the Dec. 5 Go-Hawk Girls Invite at Waverly-Shell Rock.

Two falls advanced Bachman to the 100-pound first place match, where she lost a 3-0 decision. Donlon won her 115B quarterfinal match by fall, then scored a 4-2 decision to make it to the first place match. There, she was pinned, after wrestling for over three minutes.

Mackenzie Bachman earned third at 125 pounds. She started the tournament with a fall, before losing her semifinal match late, but rebounded with falls in both the consolation semis and third-place match.

Bayleigh Wood wrestled her way to seventh place in the 135B bracket, and Audrey Ruff earned eighth at 170 after going 1-3.

Amelya Weigand (130) and Lily Robbins (155) lost a pair of tough matches and did not place. Kaylee Baker finished the tournament 1-3 at 145 pounds and did not place.

MFL MarMac concluded the week at the South Winn Girls Invite at Luther College on Dec. 8.

There, the Bulldogs were led by M. Bachman, who racked up another third-place result thanks to a 4-1 day. Her only loss came by narrow 7-5 decision in the 125-pound semifinal.

At 170 pounds, Ruff rebounded from a quarterfinal defeat to reach the third-place match, where she was pinned. Robbins also placed fourth in the 155 Silver bracket, after going 1-3.

A pair of Bulldogs—K. Bachman and Baker—took fifth in their respective classes.

Bachman picked up falls in the first and quarterfinal rounds, before getting pinned in the 100-pound semifinal. A loss in the consolation semis knocked her into the fifth-place match, where she earned a late pin.

Baker, meanwhile, went 2-2 in the 145 Silver bracket, capping off the night with a pin in under a minute in the fifth-place match.

In the 135 Silver bracket, Wood won two matches by fall to also advance to the fifth-place match. There, she was pinned by her opponent and placed sixth.

Wrestling at 130 pounds, Weigand lost her opening match by fall, then bowed out in consolation round two due to medical forfeit. She did not place.

Next up for the Bulldogs is a home dual versus Lancaster, Wis., on Dec. 12. They’ll compete in a tournament at Central DeWitt on Dec. 15.
