Prairie du Chien Blackhawk football players Max Schneider and Blake Thiry were both recently named to the Honorable Mention All-State Team for the 2023 season by the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association.

Schneider, a senior, was named a Honorable Mention Offensive Lineman, while Thiry, a junior, was named Honorable Mention at both Tight End/Fullback and at Outside Linebacker.

This is the first time in program history that two different players were named to the WFCA All-State Team in the same season, and it is also the first time that one player was named WFCA All-State at two different positions in the same season.

Unlike the Associated Press All-State Team (and the now defunct United Press International All-State Team) that is chosen by the media, Prairie du Chien has historically had a tough time getting players named All-State by the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association with only three players named to the WFCA All-State Team prior to this year: Mat Peterson, Honorable Mention Wide Receiver in 2001, Mike Lenzendorf Honorable Mention Defensive Lineman in 2004, and Mason Kramer, Small Schools Honorable Mention Defensive Back in 2019.
