H. “Scott” Burkitt March 6, 1959 – October 26, 2023

After suffering a severe brain bleed on Oct. 22, Scott left us at 1:35 p.m. that following Thursday. He was surrounded by his wife and family who sang to him, held him and toasted him as he began his journey to a better place.
Scott was a vibrant, bigger than life human being with a laugh that was infectious and always heard in a crowd. He was a kind and gentle soul who loved his human, fur and feathered families. Nature’s Nanny, a pet sitting business owned by him and his wife, Chris, added 25 years of extra love that only pets can provide.
Scott was born in Columbus, OH, and raised by his Mom, Hope, and his beloved grandparents, Harry and Louise Burkitt. As an adult, his life and work took him to places in California, Washington and Florida where he met lifelong friends. He returned to Columbus in 1996 for business. He and his wife were married at the Columbus Zoo in 1998 and have resided in Dublin, OH, ever since.
Scott spent many years in various financial institutions and spent the last 16 years with JPM Chase.
Scott loved the Buckeyes, the Buccaneers and the Seahawks. He also loved the Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badgers at his wife’s heavy encouragement.
He loved a great party shared with great friends and family, and he loved dining at the Windward passage with his wife. He loved the beach, especially Anna Maria Island and St Maartens. He loved great music, especially the blues and the Fret Shop Band with Delyn. His favorite holiday by far was Halloween and for 22 years, he kept the Brampton Street neighborhood in festive fear and fun.
He is survived by his wife, Christine “Kiki” Burkitt; their fur and feathers Lambeau, Charlie and Bebop; his sister Tracy Huddleson and brother-in-law Peter Hurme of Seattle, WA; father-in-law Cyril Desrocher and sister-in-law Heather Desrocher both of La Crosse, WI; his Burkitt families and their children, Bill Burkitt, Valda and Garnet Hunter, Frank and Barb Burkitt, Paul “Bud” Burkitt and Sharon Burkitt.
He is survived by his Wisconsin families and their children, Mark and Lori Williamson, Ginger (Krys) Bonneau, Karen and Dean Muehl, Ginny and Al Moore, Janie (Joe) Morgan, Susan and Gordon Kramer, Jerry Linschied, Jake and Beth Linschied.
He is also survived by his Florida, Brampton Street, Packers bar, JPMC, and Nanny families, Lindsey, Kay and so many more people who loved him.
He is preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, his mother Louise “Hope” Burkitt Seel and his mother-in-law Ginger Desrocher.
A celebration of life will begin at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 26, at Schoedinger Dublin, 5980 Perimeter Drive, Dublin, Ohio 43017. A cocktail party befitting Scott Burkitt will be held at the home of Kay Worrel. Address will be provided at the conclusion of the service.
