The process for earning All-State recognition from the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association is a three-tier process that begins at the All-Conference level, continues with All-Region, and finally ends with the All-State team.

Four Blackhawk players and an assistant coach were recently honored with selections to the All-Region 4 small schools team, including senior Max Schneider, who was named to the All-Region Offensive Line for the second straight season. His repeat selection makes him the first player in program history to earn back-to-back All-Region honors since the introduction of the team in 2001.

Junior Blake Thiry was named All-Region at both Tight End and Outside Linebacker, which makes him the first player in program history to be named All-Region at multiple positions in the same season.

Joining Schneider and Thiry on the team was senior Daniel Kruk for his play on the defensive line, and junior Bryce Lenzendorf at Inside Linebacker.

Longtime Prairie du Chien Football assistant coach Dave Antoniewicz was also named the Region 4 Assistant Coach of the Year, the first time a Prairie coach has been honored with this honor.

The four players and one coach named All-Region is a new program record for most selections in one season. The All-Region teams were finally split into large and small school teams in 2018.

Here is every Blackhawk that has been named to the All-Region team from its inception in 2001 through the 2022 season: 2001 - WR - Mat Peterson, Sr., 2004 - DL - Mike Lenzendorf, Sr., 2008 - RB - Tyler O’Kane, Sr., 2012 - WR - Tim Yager, Sr., 2017 - TE/FB - Cory Check, Sr., 2018 - Small Schools Team - QB - Gavin Gillitzer, Sr., OL - Grant Martin, Sr., and RB - Tyler Smock, Sr., 2019 - Small Schools Team - LB - Tyler Hannah, Sr., LB - Ben Riter, Sr., and DB - Mason Kramer, Sr., 2022 - Small Schools Team - RB - Ty Wagner, Jr., OL - Max Schneider, Jr., and K - Joey Xiya, Sr.
