Harley William Anderegg, 83, of Guttenberg passed away Sunday, Oct. 22, 2023.

Visitation was Sunday, Nov. 5, at Morris Funeral Home in Guttenberg. 

A committal service and inurnment was held Monday, Nov. 6, at St. John’s Cemetery in Guttenberg, with military honors.

Harley was born on Aug. 19, 1940, on the family farm in Millville, the son of Otto and Gertrude (Groth) Anderegg. Harley attended Country School in Millville Township Number 5 – brick school and Guttenberg High School. He served in the US Army at Fort Hood, Texas from 1963 – 1965. He married Mary Catherine Vorwald on Oct. 1, 1966. 

Harley loved farming his whole life. He took over the family farm, a dairy, beef, and crop farm. He worked at Dubuque Pack for years while farming. He was a member of the Northeast Iowa Plagman Barn, Eagles Club #4114, and St. John’s Lutheran Church. 

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Mary; children, David (Kris) Anderegg, Tresa Devaney, Tonya (Kenny) Klein; grandchildren, David (Keisha) Anderegg, Lindsey Anderegg, Hannah (Colton) Johnson, Rachel Anderegg, William Devaney, and Wesley Devaney; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Esther Emily (Guy) Ghan, and Nadine Sportsman; in-laws, Carolyn (Don Stepanek) Smith, Peggy (Gary) Hefel, Joe (Jane Parker) Vorwald, Rose (Eric Stirn) Eglseder, Jenny (Brian) DeCook; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law, Howard and Margaret (Meyer) Vorwald; brothers-in-law, John Vorwald and Jim Vorwald; and nephew, Dustin Eglseder.
