Dan Kregel

Note: Following are interview questions answered by Dan Kregel, one of seven candidates for the Clayton Ridge school board. He submitted his answers after the deadline for the Oct. 11 issue.

Dan Kregel

What are your qualifications and background? I graduated from Garnavillo Community High School in 2000, and have lived in the community and worked on our family farm ever since. Working as a farmer teaches you to accept when things do not go as expected, and to move forward despite the circumstances. I am the type of person who thinks realistically and makes decisions based on facts. When there is a topic or subject I am not familiar with, I use my resources to gain information so that I can take the best steps to move forward to accomplish the task at hand. I enjoy conversation with others, and am approachable, even when it comes to sensitive issues.

In your vision for the Clayton Ridge School District, what changes are needed? I feel we have a very strong school district currently and am certain this can continue in the years ahead. Our community needs a safe, positive, and stable school environment for our youth to grow, learn, and develop lifelong skills. I am committed to what it takes to advocate for this vision of the future for our students. Our son, Bridger, just started preschool in the district this fall. We have been very impressed with this experience so far. If I am elected, it will be my goal to work to ensure the Clayton Ridge district continues the tradition of excellence. It would be a privilege to serve as a member of the school board while representing the values that matter most to our great community.
