Bruce Glen Payne, 61, of Colesburg, passed away on Friday, Aug. 25, 2023, at his home.

Visitation was Tuesday, Aug. 29, at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Edgewood. Memorial services followed the visitation at the funeral home, conducted by Pastor Mike Jackson.

Bruce was born on March 31, 1962, in Manchester, the son of F. H. and Naomi (Gissel) Payne. He was raised and educated in the Colesburg area and was a 1980 graduate of Edgewood-Colesburg High School.

Bruce worked as a laborer/operator for Tschiggfrie Construction for many years, retiring in 2022. He was a member of Local #659 of the Laborers International Union of North America and International Union of Operators and Engineers #234 in Dubuque. Bruce loved to fish and hunt. He also enjoyed playing golf. Bruce was an avid Iowa Hawkeye and Miami Dolphins fan. Bruce loved his nieces and nephews very much and always enjoyed spending time with them.

Survivors include five siblings, Clifford (Carmen) Payne of Edgewood, Terry Payne, Greg Payne, Audrey Payne, and Dennis (Tanya) Payne, all of Colesburg; and several nieces and nephews.

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Douglas Payne. 

In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials may be directed to the Colesburg Fire Department and Ambulance Service.
