Funeral services were Friday, Aug. 18, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Garnavillo, conducted by Rev. Marvin Bries.

Together they raised three wonderful children in Garnavillo.

Glenn served on the Garnavillo City Council and the Garnavillo Fire Department. He worked as a mechanic at the Iowa DOT and then as an insurance adjuster at Farmers Mutual of Garnavillo. Glenn was a “fixer.” He could fix nearly anything or tell how to fix it, loved woodworking, inventing gadgets, golfing (scoring two hole in ones), spending time with his family at family events, and using his quick wit to bring joy, humor, and optimism to any situation.

Survivors include his wife of nearly 59 years, Linda; children, Cheri (Michael Behrend) Werges, Randy (Jennifer) Berns, Kevin (Diane) Berns; grandchildren, Tim (Jamie) Werges, Kate (Zach) Mueller, Josh (Maddie Bozikis) Werges, Marissa (Camilo) Cadavid Berns, Taylor Berns, Madison (Terius South) Berns, Blake (Emily Bonnett) Berns, Kaylee Berns, Ella Berns; great-grandchildren, Maeve, Jett, and Rhys Mueller, Nile Werges, Luke Cadavid Berns, and a set of triplets on the way; and a brother, L’Dean (Bev) Berns; in-laws, Lanny and Linda Kuehl, LuAnn Jutting, David and Leslee Helle, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law, Norbert and Luciel Kuehl; son-in-law, Tracy Werges, and brother-in-law, Richard Jutting.

He suffers no more.

Memorials may be directed to the Garnavillo Daycare, Garnavillo Fire Department and EMS, or St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
