Gerald H. Hoeger, 91 of Garnavillo, passed away Monday, Aug. 7, 2023, at Guttenberg Care Center in Guttenberg.

Funeral services were Thursday, Aug. 10, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, conducted by Rev. Marvin Bries with Rev. Steve Meyer concelebrating. Deacon Ron Meyer assisted. Visitation was before services at the church.

Burial was in the church cemetery.

Gerald was born on Feb. 8, 1932, in Garnavillo, the son of Edward and Veronica (Berns) Hoeger. Gerald received his education at St. Joseph’s Catholic School in Garnavillo. 

Gerald served his country in the Korean War from July, 1952 to April, 1954. After the war, he farmed with his brother, Lambert, until retirement. Gerald’s greatest devotion was to his Catholic Faith.

Survivors include many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Martha Hoeger, Loretta Hoeger, Irma (Clarence) Meyer, Veronica (John) Hageman; his brothers, Hermie Hoeger, Lambert Hoeger, and Vincent (Inez) Hoeger. 

The family would like to thank staff at Garnavillo Assisted Living Center, Guttenberg Care Center, and St. Croix Hospice for their compassionate care.
