February 4, 1936 - July 21, 2023

 

Dale D. French, age 87, of Mount Hope, passed away on Friday, July 21, 2023, at Prairie Maison in Prairie du Chien, WI.  

Born on February 4, 1936, in Beetown, the son of Harvey and Thelma (Millin) French.  Dale graduated from Bagley High School in 1954.  On September 27, 1958, he was united in marriage to Phyllis M. Hall at the First Presbyterian Church in Lancaster.  

Dale was a lifelong farmer and milk hauler.  He dearly loved visiting with people and telling stories of his milk hauling days.  Dale enjoyed puzzles and assembling model cars and airplanes.  He liked playing cards, especially euchre, dirty clubs, and cribbage.  Dale was a member of the West Grant Lions Club.

He is survived by his children: Christine (Matt Muench) Udelhoven, Mount Hope; Cynthia (Steve) Crozier, Tracy, IA; Randall (Christine) French, Lake Mills; Ricky (Cindy) French, Mount Hope; Corrine (Robert) Steger, Prairie du Chien; Ryan (Angela) French, Barneveld; thirteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; siblings: Larry (Ruth) French, Bloomington; Stanley (Elaine Moris) French, McGregor, IA.

In addition to his parents and his wife, Phyllis, Dale was preceded in death by a grandson, Derek Crozier and a sister-in-law, Sandy French.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 27, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster with Pastor Mary Ann Floerke officiating.  The burial will be in Hermitage Cemetery, Mount Hope.  Family and friends may call on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. until 7 p.m. and on Thursday from 10 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
