Pauline R. Clanton, age 77 of Prairie du Chien passed away Saturday, July 15, 2023, at Crossing Rivers Health in Prairie du Chien. She was born in Prairie du Chien on January 16, 1946, the daughter of Paul and Laurayne (Phillip) Prew. She graduated from Prairie du Chien High School with the class of 1964 before moving to Minneapolis, MN, where she worked for a telephone company and later an insurance company. Upon moving back to Prairie du Chien, she began working for 3M Company. Pauline married Larry Clanton on May 6, 1972, in Prairie du Chien and together they raised two sons in the community.

She later worked for the Prairie du Chien School District as a special needs teacher’s aide for many years until retirement. Pauline was a lifetime volunteer in Prairie du Chien. She dedicated much of her time to the Bargain Boutique, the Cannery, the Carriage Classic, and the Retired Teachers Association, all in Prairie du Chien. She was also an active member of the Women’s Civic Club and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Women’s Auxiliary. She was an advocate for the American Red Cross and avid blood donor, ultimately donating over 20 gallons of blood. She enjoyed sewing and became a talented seamstress. 

She is survived by her husband Larry of 50+ years; their two sons Chad and Tim (Caedin) Clanton; her 7 siblings Joanne (Roger) Wilhite, Mary Clements, William Prew, Phyllis Lane, Daniel Prew, Ardelle Prew, and Geraldine Prew; 3 grandchildren Max, Maesa, and Mekhi Clanton; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brothers John, Edward, Alan, and Arthur Prew.

Funeral Services were held on Wednesday, July 19, 2023 at the Garrity Funeral Home Chapel, with Msgr. Charles Stoetzel officiating.
