Central was back on the softball diamond last week with a May 31 doubleheader against South Winneshiek, followed by a home tournament Saturday versus Clayton Ridge and Wapsie Valley.

Central was down early in game one of the doubleheader, as South Winn took a 6-0 lead into the fifth inning. Central rallied late, but fell short in a 9-3 loss.

The Warrior offense put up seven hits and stole three bases, and the pitching staff held South Winn to 12 hits while striking out two batters.

In game two, Central fell down by six runs heading into the fourth inning, before putting together back-to-back two-run innings in the bottom of the fourth and fifth. South Winneshiek continued to pull away, though, taking a 13-4 victory.

Central earned nine hits, in addition to compiling four walks and three stolen bases. On the mound, the Warriors gave up 11 hits and struck out three hitters.

No individual stats were provided for either game.

In the weekend tournament, the Warriors took on the Eagles in the morning game, winning 8-0.

Central was down by a run after the first inning of game two, before Wapsie Valley pulled away to a 12-1 victory. The Warriors put up five hits and stole five bases, as the pitching staff gave up just five hits and struck out one.

Now 1-5, the Warriors have a four-game slate this week, starting June 5 versus Waukon. They head on the road for a doubleheader against Clayton Ridge June 7, then end the week June 9 at Springville.
