MFL MarMac girls golfers win two meets

Kaylee Baker shot a 58 against the Warriors, helping the Bulldogs win the meet 228-231.

Morgan Jacobson finished the meet against South Winn with a score of 61.

The MFL MarMac girls golf team picked up wins over Clayton Ridge and South Winneshiek last week.

 

The 238-250 victory at Guttenberg Golf and Country Club on April 20 was led by Bulldog sophomore Morgan Jacobson, who shot a meet-best 56. Teammate Devon Meyer placed third with a 58, and Kaylee Baker’s 61 tied her for fourth. Mackenzie Bachman shot a 63, which was good for sixth place, followed by Mallory Lang in ninth with a 69. Clare Grau shot a 79 to round out MFL MarMac’s varsity scores.

 

The success came despite cool, windy and rainy weather—conditions that persisted into a make-up meet with South Winn on April 21.

 

It didn’t hold back the Bulldogs, though, who edged the Warriors 228-231.

 

Meyer improved her scored to a team-best 53, and Bachman and Baker shot a respective 56 and 58. Jacobson finished the night with a 61, while Lang again shot a 69 and Grau a 75.

 

Two conference meets are on the docket for MFL MarMac this week: at Central on April 24 and home versus West Central on April 27.
