Two first-place finishes in the 4x100 and 4x200 relays highlighted the MFL MarMac girls track and field team’s performances at the April 6 Starmont Girls Invitational.

The 4x200 team of Jerica Wille, Maria Stavroplus, Hannah Bogdonovich and Madelyn Keehner claimed the top spot with a time of 2:03.81, four seconds ahead of second-place Tripoli.

Bogdonovich, Wille and Keehner, along with teammate Amelya Weigand, represented the Bulldogs in the 4x100, where a DQ elevated the team from second to the top spot.

Relay success continued in the distance medley, where a combined time of 5:13.09 from Bogdonovich, Keehner, Weigand and Emma Koether resulted in a second-place finish.

Bogdonovich, Wille, Melanie Ruff and Evelyn Ruff placed fourth in the sprint medley, after running the race in 2:12.31, while Weigand, Danica Friedlein, Bayleigh Wood and Koether took fifth in the 4x400 with a time of 5:46.91.

Koether turned in the best performance in the individual running events, placing fifth in the 800. Wille crossed the finish line sixth in the 100 meter dash, followed by Melanie Ruff in eighth, Audrey Ruff 14th and Brooklyn Tonn 22nd. Stavroplus ran to 17th in the 200, while Wood was 14th in the 400.

In the field events, a height of 4-02 feet lifted Stavroplus to third place in the high jump. Ariana Fish reached 9-07 feet in the long jump, which was good for sixth.

Friedlein and Tonn competed in both the discus and shot put. Friedlein was a respective 11th and 14th in the events, and Tonn placed 16th and 17th.

MFL MarMac totaled 42 points, placing them fifth in the team standings. Central ran away with that title after earning a whopping 192 points.

The Bulldogs will compete twice this week, starting at the Waukon Girls Early Bird on April 11. The MFL MarMac Co-Ed Invite is April 13 in Monona.
