Donald A. Hackett, age 76, of Marquette, passed away Saturday, Feb. 25, 2023, at home surrounded by his family. He was born in Dodgeville, Wis., on June 13, 1946, the son of Aaron and Veronica (Zabel) Hackett. Don moved to Prairie du Chien, Wis., with his family, where he grew up and went to school. Don married the love of his life, Trudy Ferguson, on Aug. 20, 1966, at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Prairie du Chien. He worked as a foreman at Isabella Construction Company before going to work at Prairie Beer Distributing Company for many years. Don then was superintendent operative of waste management for the city of Marquette before Don and Trudy purchased Hackett’s Porta Potty Rentals in 1989. He ran his business until retirement, when he sold the company in 2009. Don enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing. He also enjoyed gardening and was known to have a bit of a “green thumb.” Don was also known by his nickname of “Don Boy” and for his fantastic story telling. Above all, he greatly loved his family, spending time with, and cooking, for them.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Trudy; their children Chad (Rachel) and Brad (Janet) Hackett; his brother Richard (Carolyn) Hackett; his grandchildren Lindsey, Brock, Brooke, Alex, Ashley and Adam Hackett, and Brittney (Mike) Miller, Danielle (Caleb) Ferring, Regan (Laen) Folsom and Haley (Tyler) Hertges; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons Jamie and Brent Hackett, and his three sisters Katherine Clutz, Barbara Green and Ellen Wendling.
