Dayton Walter Miller, 76, of Guttenberg passed away Saturday, Feb. 4, 2023, at the Guttenberg Care Center after his fearless fight with cancer. He gave it his all.

Services will be held at a later date.

Dayton was born on June 18, 1946, in McGregor, the son of Walter and Edith (Ferguson) Miller. He married his cherished wife, Susan Handke, in 1969 and they had two children together.

Dayton worked at John Deere for 41 years and often had a new story to tell about his shenanigans there. He loved his Hovercraft, electric bike, and his red SSR, and of course, his truck he ordered from Canada. He shared many memories with his grandson, Dakota, out hovering on the Mississippi. Dayton always had the best stories to tell about his many brothers and sisters. They were very special to him, and also his good friend, Jerry.

Dayton was a fantastic, beautiful hearted man. Most of all, he was the best dad a daughter could ask for. We love you Dad.

Survivors include his wife, Sue of 53 years, children, Tammysue Schmit and Wade Miller; grandchildren, Dakota, Matty, Michael, Evie, and Emily; sisters, Susanne (Jay) Westemeier, Betty (Tom) Thompson and Dianne Knockel; brothers, Danny (Jean) Miller, Mitch (Charlotte) Miller, Owen (Carol) Miller, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Donna Balk and Denise (Joe) Boardman; brothers, Davey Miller, Walter Miller Jr., Merlin Miller, and Jerry Lee Miller.

Morris Funeral Home in Guttenberg is assisting the family and information is available at www.morrisfuneralhomes.com. Memorials may be sent to Morris Funeral Home (in care of the deceased) 207 S. First St., Guttenberg, IA 52052.
