The Central boys basketball team’s regular season came to an end Feb. 7, with a defeat at the hands of the conference champion MFL MarMac Bulldogs.

The loss gave the Warriors a record of 4-12 in the Upper Iowa Conference and 7-14 overall, as they finished the regular season on a six-game losing streak.

Central was simply outgunned and outmanned in last week’s 75-39 loss. The team was held to fewer than 10 points in each of the first three periods, only breaking out for 19 in the fourth when the Bulldogs had the game well in hand. Central took almost 30 fewer shot attempts and turned the ball over 29 times.

On the plus side, Dan McGreal went 5-10, scoring 14 points, and added three rebounds and one assist. Elliot Kelly finished the game with six points and three rebounds, while two players—Gabe Erickson and Tate Berns—each scored four points and combined for 10 rebounds. Korey Schantz, Isaac Loan and Sam Frailey all scored three points apiece.

The Warrior offense was 14-39 shooting and went 4-13 on three-point shots.

Central began the playoffs Feb. 13, losing to the Central City Wildcats. More information from that game will be in next week’s paper.
