It was another quality meet for the Central girls wrestling squad at the Iowa City Liberty Girls Invitational, as the Warriors finished with five wins and nine losses. One wrestler made the first place match and another won the third place match.

As inaugural seasons go, the Warriors are putting together a foundation to build upon once they return after the winter break.

Taylor Moser (125 pounds) won the champion round one match via fall, but lost in the quarterfinals in a hard fought match, and eventually lost the consolation round two match via fall after a five-minute battle.

Mayleigh Medberry (135) went winless on the day, suffering a fall in round one and a 9-6 decision loss in consolation round two.

Kimberly Suhr (130) wrestled twice, losing both matches by fall, as did Rebecca Suhr, who wrestled at 155 pounds.

Reese Berns (115) rolled to the first place match, needing fewer than 90 seconds to earn two falls in the quarterfinals and semifinals, but was defeated via fall in the championship match.

Tori Sylvester (120) got out of the quarterfinals with a fall, before being pinned in the semifinals. Sylvester rebounded with a 40-second fall to secure third place.

The girls will make their way back to the mat on Jan. 2, at the Osage Tournament, followed by the Central Girls Wrestling Invitational on Jan. 6.
