Dual losses continued to mount for the Central boys wrestling program last week. At the Center Point Urbana meet, the team lost all three duals, after going 5-10 in matches and giving up 16 forfeits.

Against Anamosa, the Warriors lost 57-18, with one victory by Braxton Bormann (120) via fall. Nick Deitchler (132) lost a 6-2 decision, while Daniel Royer (138) and Sam Fettkether (160) both lost via fall.

The dual against Center Point Urbana was a 54-12 defeat for the Warriors, with Daniel Royer (145) securing a win with a 44-second pin. The rest of the team went 0-4, all losing via fall.

The final dual of the meet was the most successful for the Warriors, as they went 3-3 in matches, but ultimately lost 42-13 because of forfeits. Bormann (120) earned a fall for six points, while Royer (138) was victorious in an 11-2 majority decision for four points and Deitchler (132) won a 5-1 decision for three points.

Central capped the week off in the Nashua-Plainfield Varsity Tournament on Dec. 10.

Bormann (120) received a bye into the quarterfinals, which he won via fall in 1:03. In the semifinals, Bormann defeated Zaden Eggers (BCLUW-Shellsburg) by 10-0 majority decision, before faltering in the first place match, losing a 7-0 decision to Gabriel Brisker (Wilton).

Deitchler (132) won his opening round with a 10-1 majority decision, but lost in the quarterfinals to Kendrick Huck (Nashua-Plainfield) via fall. Deitchler won both consolation matches, round two via fall and round three in a 4-3 decision, but lost in the consolation semifinals by fall and the fifth place match was ruled a no contest.

Wrestling at 138 pounds, Royer received a bye before winning his quarterfinal match by fall. He lost both the semifinal and consolation semifinal matches by fall, before pinning Treycen Rollene (Northwood-Kensett) in the fifth place match.

Fettkether lost by fall in round one and received a bye into the round two consolation match, where he secured a fall. Fettkether then lost the round three consolation match by way of fall.

“Our bottom has gotten much better from last year. Also, our top game is still very good. We were following the hips well and were scoring points on top. Need to get more aggressive in the neutral, but we have all season to grow and gain more and more confidence in ourselves and our shots,” said coach Joe Koehn.

The girls wrestling program did not have a meet last week due to weather. They will be in action Dec. 15, at Decorah.

The boys have a full schedule with three meets, starting Dec. 13 at Central City, followed by a trip to Decorah on Dec. 15. They wrap up the week at Clayton Ridge on Dec. 16.
