Warrior girls continue to find success on the wrestling mat

It was a successful return to the mat for the Central girls wrestling team during their Central Scramble event on Nov. 28, as they wrestled to an 11-7 match record.
Reese Berns finished the scramble with two fall victories and one loss, and was second at 115 pounds.
Tori Sylvester also went 2-1, with a fall and a decision victory, before losing her third match via fall, to finish second at 120 pounds.
Maci Keppler saw success during her matches, going 2-1 with both victories coming by fall in less than a minute. She managed a second place finish at 130 pounds.
Mayleigh Medberry fought her way to a 2-1 record, with both wins coming via fall, which put her second at 135.
Rebecca Suhr finished the scramble 2-1, with two fall wins, and came in second at 155.
Taylor Moser went 1-1 with a fall win and a loss by pin, and came in second at 125 pounds, while Kimberly Suhr, wrestling at 130 pounds, suffered a loss in her only match of the scramble and placed second at the weight class.
The Warriors next hosted the Girls Central Dual Tournament on Dec. 2, finishing fourth as a team, 2-2 in duals and 22-2 in individual matches.
In the duals, Central defeated Waukon 36-24 and Postville 30-18, while losing to Dubuque 42-33. No stats were available for these duals.
In the dual against Benton Community, according to available statistics, the Warriors lost 42-30, despite winning five of six wrestled matches. The Warriors lost the dual due to six forfeit losses. Victories were achieved by R. Suhr, Berns, Sylvester, Moser and K. Suhr, all via fall.
The girls will be back in action Dec. 9, at South Winneshiek.
