Joyce Elaine Siegele, 88, of Marquette, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2022 at Northgate Care Center in Waukon. Joyce Elaine Bloyer was born to the late Evan and Janet Bloyer, a watermelon farmer and a homemaker, in Prairie du Chien, Wis., on July 12, 1934.

Joyce was a hardworking outdoors woman. She worked as a nurse then for 18 years at the Wyalusing Academy, a school for troubled youths. Joyce helped tending and planting over 600,000 evergreen trees on her tree farm , co-owned with her brother Kenny and operated by Joyce and her husband Raymond Siegele. Joyce and Raymond were married on Feb. 20, 1954. Two sons were born to this union, Donald and Douglas.

Joyce was a kind soul, excellent listener and always humble. She spent almost every summer visiting her childhood best friend-cousin Joan in sunny Florida. Joyce will always be remembered for her homemade raspberry jam and her homemade infamous sugar and monster cookies. She was a pillar in her community, always willing to help a friend or neighbor, even if they needed a ride across the Mississippi River cruising in her Geo Metro.

Joyce enjoyed gardening, bird watching, sewing, painting and crocheting. Joyce loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Joyce will be dearly missed by all her loved ones.

Joyce is survived by her two sons, Donald and wife Patty, and Douglas and wife Rebecca; five grandchildren, Jenny and husband Joel, Hannah, Adam and wife Genna, Wyatt and C.J.; and four great-grandchildren, Lauryn, Laryssa, Xander and Aspyn.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Kenny and Bob; her beloved husband, Raymond; and her beloved sister, Judy.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 10, at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in McGregor.

Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of McGregor is assisting the family.
