Sylvia R. Cooper, 57, of Mt. Hope, passed away on Friday, Oct. 14, 2022, at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City, with her loving husband by her side. She was born on Sept. 5, 1965, in West Germany the daughter of Christa Asmus. Sylvia moved to Kentucky with her family at the age of seven. Her family relocated to Georgia and later Alabama where she met the love of her life, Jackie Cooper. They were united in marriage on July 12, 1991, in Prairie du Chien. Sylvia worked various jobs and had a strong work ethic. She enjoyed spending time on the river fishing, was an excellent cook, and had the sweetest disposition. Sylvia was a lady through and through. She will be greatly missed. 

Survivors include her husband of 32 years, Jackie Cooper; her sons: Gary and Christopher Easterling; seven grandchildren, especially James who was always by her side; her sister, Yvonne Wall; brothers: William and Roy Whitener; brother-in-law, Rickie Cooper; and special friends, Melisa and Tom; other relatives and many friends. 

Sylvia was preceded in death by her mother, Christa and her father-in-law, Harry Cooper.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2022, at 3 p.m. at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Bloomington with Reverend Mary Ann Floerke officiating. Burial will be in Blakes Prairie Cemetery, Bloomington Township. Family and friends may call on Saturday from 1 p.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
