Top seeded Prairie du Chien continued to roll Friday night, Oct. 28 by beating visiting and fifth seeded River Valley 52-15 in a WIAA Division 5 second round playoff football game.
Prairie built a 20-8 lead in the first quarter and never looked back.
River Valley took the second quarter 7-6 but Prairie led at the half 26-15.
Prairie du Chien won the third period 26-0 to widen the margin to a commanding 52-15 advantage.
There was no scoring in the fourth quarter.
Maddox Cejka was 3 of 5 passing for 84 yards and a TD for Prairie. Ty Wagner rushed 17 times for 125 yards and a whopping 5 touchdowns. Kurt Wall had 1 attempt for 6 yards. Blake Thiry had 2 receptions for 77 yards and a TD. Drake Ingham caught 1 pass for 7 yards.
Cejka had a total of 5 tackles. Thiry had 6 tackles. Wall had 6 tackles and an interception for a TD. Drew Hird had 7 tackles. Nick McCullick had 4 tackles. Ty Wagner had 4 tackles including 2 sacks and a forced fumble. Hunter Straka had 6 tackles. Brogan Brewer had 4 tackles including a sack. Jeremiah Avery had 4 tackles. Joey Xiya had 3 tackles. Prairie du Chien will next host second seeded Brodhead-Juda on Nov. 4 in the third round of the playoffs. Prairie beat visiting Brodhead 30-21 on Oct. 7 in a hard-hitting, back and forth contest. Prairie led 23-21 at halftime of that game.
