Diane Elizabeth Fishler, 79, of Prairie du Chien, passed away Friday, Oct. 21, 2022, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born May 14, 1943, the daughter of Milton and Virginia (Donner) Hein, in Dubuque, Iowa. Diane attended school in Elkader, Iowa, and later moved and graduated from Prairie du Chien High School in 1962. She went on to work at 3M for a couple years. Diane met the love of her life at the local Checkerboard. After just one month of dating, Loren Fishler proposed to Diane. The following year, Diane and Loren were married on Sept. 18, 1965, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Eastman. They started their young married life in the Bagley area but then moved to the Bridgeport area in 1966 and started their new life together when they purchased their first farm. Diane worked beside her husband on the farm throughout the years while raising their family. In 1994, Diane chose to get a job off the farm since they stopped milking dairy cows. She went on to work at the Miss Marquette Casino as a waitress in the food service area. Diane always had a smile to share and customers would ask for their favorite waitress. This was a job she really enjoyed, since she was able to meet a lot of new people and gained a lot of new friendships. In 2010, Diane was forced to retire, due to her cancer diagnosis. Diane was a cancer survivor of twelve years. She was a lifelong member of the Holy Family Parish in Prairie du Chien. Diane had a strong faith and also taught CCD classes in her younger days. Diane was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and her family meant everything to her. Diane will be greatly missed, yet a part of her will live on in those who loved her.

Diane is survived by her husband of 57 years, Loren Fishler of Prairie du Chien, four children, Rodney and Angie (Picha) Fishler, Tammy and Patrick Nolan, Mark Fishler, and Kelly Fishler, all of the Prairie du Chien area; eight grandchildren, Blake, Emily, and Jacob Fishler, Rachael, Eric, Alexis, and Lindsey Nolan, and Gabe M. Fishler.  Diane was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings, Milton Jr. Hein, Bruce Hein, Richard Hein, Marlene Matti, Barbara Hein, David Hein, Howard Hein, and Nancy Hein.
