May 19, 1918 - September 29, 2022

Fern A. Chambers, 104, of Prairie du Chien passed away Thursday, Sept. 29, 2022, at Prairie Maison in Prairie du Chien. 

 

She was born May 19, 1918, the daughter of Clyde C. and Katherine (Moury) Noggle. Fern married Leonard “Jake” Chabela in 1935 at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Prairie du Chien. She was active in the Prairie du Chien community, often doing volunteer work with the local hospital committee. Fern later married Stanley Chambers on June 16, 1967. Fern and Stan loved to travel and listen to jazz. Fern was an avid sports fan and loved to golf. She also enjoyed playing cards, especially a game of bridge. 

 

She is survived by her children Joe (Karen) Chabela and Sandra Colleran; 13 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, numerous great-great grandchildren, her niece Helen Zabel, her daughter-in-law Lorene Chabela, and numerous other nieces and nephews. 

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Jake, second husband Stan, her son Chuck, her stepdaughter Sally Ryan (John),  and stepson Jim Chambers, son-in-law Pat Colleran, and her siblings Clyde J. “Ski” , and Kenneth Noggle, Elgia Phillips, and Shirley Pelishek. 

 

The family would like to extend a sincere thanks to the many people at Prairie Maison for the care and kindness they provided in her later years. Funeral services will be announced at a later date.
