Robert “Bob” Rodenberg, age 66, of Garnavillo, died Thursday, Sept. 22, 2022.  He was born on March 15, 1956, in Guttenberg, the son of LeVerl and Ilo (Nuehring) Rodenberg.

 

Bob graduated from Garnavillo Community Schools in 1974 and received a bachelors of arts in aviation from the University of Dubuque in 1979. 

 

On April 23, 1983, he was united in marriage with the love of his life, Vickie Decker. The family resided in Garnavillo where they were blessed through their 39 years of marriage with three sons, Dustin, Adam and Anthony. Bob also welcomed and embraced two stepsons, Michael and Robert Frieden, to the family.

 

Bob was employed by Bruening Rock Products. He took great pride in his work and enjoyed his job. He considered many of the customers he worked with as friends. Bob was very active in his local community, serving on his church council, city council and numerous other committees throughout his life. Athletics played an important role in his life, as he coached youth baseball and basketball for many years and was a high school basketball official for 35 years.

 

Bob loved hunting, fishing and sports and spent as much time as he could passing along his love, knowledge and experiences to his sons and those close to him. If ever you met Bob on the street, he always had a smile on his face and time for a little conversation. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and was truly a great friend, brother and loving husband and father.

 

Bob will be forever loved and cherished by his wife Vickie; three sons, Dustin (Susan) Rodenberg, Adam (Kelly) Rodenberg and Anthony Rodenberg; step son, Robert (Joan) Frieden; grandchildren, Cade Rodenberg and Haley and Ella Frieden; siblings, Karilyn (Matt Esser) McArthur, Marilyn “Mitz” Svestka, Janet (Steven) Christianson, Bill (Bev) Rodenberg and Brian (Vicki) Rodenberg; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

 

Bob was preceded in death by his parents and step son Michael Frieden.

 

Arrangements are being handled by Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Garnavillo, where the family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 3, and one hour before the service at church. Funeral service will be at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Garnavillo at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 4. Inurnment will be at the Clayton Cemetery.
