Prairie du Chien is celebrating 150 years as a community. Accepting the award are City Administrator Chad Abram, City Council Representatives Nate Bremmer, Jaaren Riebe, Nick Crary, Nate Gilberts and Mayor Dave Hemmer.

Homesteader Homes was recognized for 25 Years of Service during the Prairie du Chien Area Chamber of Commerce Banquet and Dinner on Sept. 22 at the Backwater Bar and Restaurant in Prairie du Chien. Above, Tom and Ginny Herreid are shown with their award.

Huckleberry's received an award for 30 Years of Service. Chip and Roxanne Skemp and Bob Moses accept the award.

Dean and Heidi Rockweiler, Lowden Rockweiler, and Colin Ahlstom accept their award for 50 Years of Service for Rockweiler’s Appliance and TV.

Sutton Insurance received an award for 65 Years of Service. Accepting the award are Carlee Monroe, Tarah Sutton Marx, Sally Whitish and Kevin Mulrooney.

Next, Nick Coffield, General Manager and Rod Hall, Owner of Prairie Motor Sports receives the 2022 Community Investment of the Year Award. Next is JoAnn Evans of The Cannery which received the award for providing 25 Years of Service in the retail industry in Prairie du Chien. On the right are Brian and Crystal Priebe of The Sweet Tooth. They are receiving the New Business of the Year Award for 2022.

The Prairie du Chien Area Chamber of Commerce Legacy Award is awarded to an individual, group, organization, or business who go over and above to reach their goals and impact on their community. The Legacy Award represents a long-standing sustainable achievement whereby success is measured by hard work and determination. Accepting the award are Robert and Jennifer Yaeger of White Springs Restaurant of McGregor.

The Prairie du Chien Area Chamber of Commerce held its annual Chamber Banquet and Awards Program on Thursday, Sept. 22. The event was hosted at the Backwater Bar and Restaurant in downtown Prairie du Chien. 

 

The purpose of the annual event is to identify, honor and reinforce the activities of the exceptional people whose service or performance positively contributes to the quality of life in the area served by the Prairie du Chien Area Chamber of Commerce.

 

Robert Moses, President and CEO of the Chamber of Commerce, opened the evening with a warm welcome and provided and an update on the state of the chamber. 

 

“As the Prairie du Chien Area Chamber of Commerce heads into its 74th year of existence, I want to assure our members the state of the Chamber has never been stronger and more robust,” said Moses. “Thanks to the support of our investors and initiatives of our 12 annual events and our committees, the Chamber and Tourism Council has been successful in providing opportunities for its members to grow their businesses.”

 

Nick Coffield, Chamber Board President, and Mary Antoine, Tourism Council Chair, supplied an update of the past year’s activities regarding the Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Council.

 

Dennis Cooley, director of Business and Industry Services with Southwest Technical College, updated the membership on the work that has been done on the chamber’s strategic plan for 2023-2025.

 

After the award presentations, Moses thanked everyone for attending the annual event and thanked the members for their partnership and continued investment in the Prairie du Chien Area Chamber of Commerce. He also wished them continued success.

 

Note: Two award winners were unable to attend the Awards Banquet. Hardee’s was honored for 50 years of providing fast food service in Prairie du Chien. PdC Dentistry was honored for providing 25 Years of Service in the Prairie du Chien Community.
