More top 10s for Bulldogs

The string of top-10 finishes continued for the MFL MarMac cross country team in a meet at Waukon on Sept. 20. The runners did it all while battling 90-degree heat.
Jacob Schellhorn placed second in the boys race, his 17:56 trailing only the 17:11 time posted by Starmont/West Central’s Charlie Sieck. Will Koether and Sawyer Keehner came in a respective 35th and 37th, with times of 20:34 and 20:44. Tucker Ruff finished the course in 21:01, to place 42nd.
With only four participants, MFL MarMac did not qualify for a team score. The meet winner was host Waukon.
In the girls race, Cora Keehner turned in a solid 23:11 for ninth place. Evelyn Ruff’s 18th-place, 24:03 time also helped her medal. Emma Koether crossed the line 28th with a time of 25:22, followed by Clare Grau in 29th at 25:31. Mariah Moser and Kaylee Nuehring finished a respective 47th and 48th. Moser’s time was 29:56 and Nuehring came in at 30:05.
The Bulldogs totaled a score of 125 and were seventh as a team. Decorah finished first at 54.
MFL MarMac’s next race is Sept. 27, at Jesup.
