It’s homecoming week at Central, and activities will kick off Thursday, Sept. 22, with the homecoming parade.

The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the city park T-ball fields and end at Jack Dittmer Field. Starting at 6 p.m., the Central Athletic Boosters Club will have a meal available for purchase at Dittmer Field during the pep rally and following game of powderpuff football. The crowning of the homecoming court will also take place during this event.

Festivities continue Friday morning in the Central gym, starting at 9 a.m., where 2022 grand marshal Rick Maehl and hall of famer Rohrk Cutchlow will deliver speeches.

Maehl graduated from Central in 1967 and was a member of the football and wrestling teams, as well as senior class president, homecoming king and a member of the National Honor Society student council. During his senior wrestling season, Maehl finished 27-2 and was the state runner up. He remains the only Central wrestler to make it to the state finals.

Cutchlow is a 1993 Central graduate and is currently the assistant athletics director for athletic performance and sports science at the University of Missouri.

Following the speeches, at 10 a.m., Central high school students will play iron man volleyball and other class games in the gym. At noon, the kindergarten and first grade parade will travel from Pine Street to North Main Street, and all students will return to the gym for a final pep rally at 1 p.m.

Homecoming week will be capped off with a high school football open practice at Dittmer Field at 6 p.m. Youth flag football, which replaces the traditional Friday night game, is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Dittmer Field.
