Cyril J. Morovits
Cyril J. Morovits, 81, of Prairie du Chien, passed away Friday, July 15, 2022, at Crossing Rivers Health in Prairie du Chien.
He was born in Eastman, on June 11, 1941, the son of Joseph and Stephina (Martin) Morovits. He graduated from Seneca High School and moved to Kenosha, where he worked for American Motors for many years until retirement. Rain or shine, Cy rode his bike to work every day. Cyril married Karen Rowe on Oct. 8, 1960, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Eastman. He loved basketball and was an avid Wisconsin Badger fan. He also enjoyed camping and golfing. He was a fun-loving man that enjoyed laughing and spending time with his family and friends. He was also a man of the Catholic faith.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Karen; their children, Debra (Terrence) Flatley and Rick (Diane) Morovits; his siblings, Joseph “Cecil” (Linda) Morovits and Cecelia Skrade; his grandchildren, Jamie (Steve) Barwin, Celena Knight, Mallary (Steven) West, Connor (Nicole) Morovits and Erin Morovits; sisters-in-law, Irene and Debbie Morovits; six great-grandchildren, Jakob Knight, Griffin Barwin, Ryan West, Adalyn Morovits, Ellyson Barwin, and Camden West; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Aloysius (Gertrude), Eugene, Paul (Judy), and Dennis Morovits, and Rita (Roger) Oswald; his grandson, Ryan Knight; and brother-in-law, Fred “Roger” Skrade.
A Memorial Mass of Resurrection will be Thursday, July 21, at 11 a.m. at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Eastman, Rev. Rajendran Anandan officiating with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of services. The Garrity Funeral Home, of Prairie du Chien, is assisting the family.
