Seth Adams of Adams Auction and Real Estate between Prairie du Chien and Eastman has earned the title of 2022 Wisconsin State Champion Auctioneer.

Seth captured the title while competing against roughly 20 auctioneers at the Wisconsin Auctioneers Association Convention. The 20 get narrowed down to six and then down to the champion, reserve champion and the runner-up.

Seth said the contestants are judged upon their bid calling ability, auction chant, presentation, dress, poise and how they conduct themselves. They are also asked questions about the auction industry.

“The state champion is kind of the ambassador for the Auctioneers Association for the year,” said Seth.

Seth also noted that this is the first time in 70 years that the association has had brothers win back-to-back State Champion Auctioneer awards. Ryan Adams was the champion in 2020. There was no convention in 2021 due to COVID.

Because he is the state champion, Seth said he will be helping out at a charity golf auction in Pewaukee and also at the Governor’s Auction for animals at the Wisconsin State Fair.

Seth said he gives a lot of credit to his wife Katie and his sons Maverick, 4, and Marshall, 2, for their continuing support.

“I wouldn’t be able to do this without the support of Katie,” said Seth. “I also have the boys believing I’m the best auctioneer in the world.”

Seth said he and Ryan are first generation auctioneers who conducted their first sale in 2007. He said they conduct four to five auctions or sales every week, in addition to numerous other duties.

“We also do multiple benefit auctions at no charge,” said Seth. “We feel that’s a good way to give back to the community.”
