The 2022 Crawford County Dairy Princess Aisja Achenbach-Horton (right) and Little Miss Squirt Erin Nolan were announced May 26 at the county’s annual Dairy Kickoff Banquet. Aisja and Erin will spend the next year promoting the dairy industry.

A very well attended Crawford County Dairy Kick-Off Banquet was held Thursday night, May 26, at the Eastman United Methodist Fellowship Hall, where the 2022 Crawford County Dairy Princess was crowned.

She is Aisja Achenbach-Horton, 20, the daughter of Jenni Achenbach and Christopher K. Horton. She graduated in 2021 from Prairie du Chien High School and is currently enrolled as a full-time student at Southwest Tech for farm operations and management, with a dairy emphasis. Aisja is the calf manager at her grandpa’s farm—Achenbach Hy-View Farms LTP—where she takes close measurements on the calves’ health, activities and proper growth. On the farm, the family milks 270 registered Holsteins.

She also shows dairy cattle that she selects from the farm at all levels, including county, district, state and national levels. Aisja recently went to the World Dairy Expo with her own home bred and owned heifer,  Hy-View Providence Inga, a 2021 winter yearling that placed in the top 10 in the Junior International Holstein Show.

In addition to her passion for showing, Aisja is actively involved in   4-H, Crawford County Dairy Promotors, Crawford County State Fair Team, Wisconsin Holstein Association, Wisconsin Ayrshire Association, PAS (Post-Secondary Agriculture Students), SWTC Farm Club, 4-H dairy judging, and collegiate level dairy judging.

As the 2022 Crawford County Dairy Princess, she is pleased about the opportunity to educate the public on the importance of the dairy industry. She’s excited to continue to follow her dreams in the industry as well.

The new Crawford County Little Miss Squirt is Erin Nolan, 10, the daughter of John and Carrie Nolan of Nolan Family Farms in Prairie du Chien. Erin has four brothers and three sisters and just finished her fourth grade year at Prairie Catholic School. She has been a member of the Eastman Cloverleaf 4-H Club for five years. She is in TNT Gymnastics and plays softball in the summer. Erin loves being home on her family’s dairy farm, and her favorite chores are feeding the rabbits, chickens and calves. She also helps her dad milk cows. The Nolans milk 190 registered Holsteins on their 1,200 acre farm.

This year, Erin’s family is hosting the 40th Annual Crawford County Dairy Breakfast. The Nolan family also hosted the breakfast in 1983, 1997 and 2007. Erin would like to help the Dairy Princess promote the dairy industry. Her favorite dairy recipes are yogurt smoothies.

The newly-crowned dairy royalty’s first public appearance will be greeting guests Saturday, June 4, from 6 to 10 a.m., at the Crawford County Dairy Breakfast.
