The MFL MarMac boys track and field team turned in seven first place performances at the April 21 Kee High Invitational. That total propelled the Bulldogs to second overall, mere points behind winner Turkey Valley.

Not surprisingly, Karter Decker scored two of those top results in the 100 and 200 meter dashes, where he ran respective times of 10.96 and 22.89 seconds. According to Varsity Bound, they’re both the fourth highest times in Class 2A this season.

Cullen McShane continued to impress in the 100 as well, crossing the line in 11.42 seconds for second place.

Other sprint results for MFL MarMac included a ninth place effort for Carver Blietz-Bentien in the 200 and fifth for Callum Johnson in the 400. Hunter Kugel was ninth in that event.

Jacob Schellhorn accounted for the Bulldogs’ top distance performance, coming in second in the 1500 with a time of 5:01.94. Cody Moses finished seventh.

Tucker Ruff’s time of 2:19.08 was good for fourth in the 800 meter run, while Logan Ross took ninth.

MFL MarMac really shined in the relays, where runners placed either first or second in each event.

One of those first place results came in the 4x100, thanks to a combined 44.95-second time by Wyatt Powell, Kaden Stocker, McShane and Decker. Blietz-Bentien, Brandon Christofferson, Izayah Streicher and Schellhorn claimed first in the 4x800 with a time of 9:08.65.

The shuttle hurdle relay team consisting of Rylee Kugel, Carter Streicher, Ruff and Carter Stoddard also raced to first in a time of 1:18.12. It marked the Bulldogs’ first shuttle hurdle performance in nearly a decade.

Among the relays placing second were the 4x200 (R. Kugel, C. Streicher, I. Streicher and Stoddard), 4x400 (Stoddard, I. Streicher, R. Kugel and Caleb Nordheim), 800 sprint medley (R. Kugel, C. Streicher, Moses and Cyrus Johnson) and 1600 distance medley (Powell, Cyrus Johnson, Nordheim and Christofferson).

Finally, two of the team’s top efforts came in the field events, where Stocker took first in the high jump with a height of 5 feet, 6 inches and McShane’s throw of 44 feet, 7 inches placed him first in the shot put.

Josh Reichard finished fourth in the shot put and fifth in the discus, while Aiden Schoulte earned sixth and 10th in the respective events.

MFL MarMac’s schedule this week includes a meet at Oelwein on April 25, then at Clayton Ridge on April 28 and Starmont on April 29.
