Several top-five finishes highlighted the MFL MarMac girls track and field team’s first outdoor meet at Waukon on April 12.

That included a fourth place effort in the 4x200 relay, where Ava Lindner, Hannah Bogdonovich, Evelyn Ruff and Melanie Ruff combined for a time of 2:09.08.

The Bulldogs also found success in the 800 sprint medley, with the squad of Abby Schellhorn, Bogdonovich, Lindner and M. Ruff crossing the line fifth. That same group placed sixth in the 1600 distance medley.

Schellhorn led MFL MarMac in the individual events, cruising to fourth place in the 1500 meter run. The senior completed the race in 6:18. M. Ruff sprinted to ninth in the 100, while Maria Stavroplus placed 14th.

Stavroplus also competed in the high jump, leaping to seventh with a height of 4 feet. Schellhorn’s throw of 53 feet, 2 inches put her 12th in the discus. Teammate Jordyn Jones finished 13th in the event, at 50 feet, 5 inches, and was 11th in the shot put with a distance of 19 feet, 8 inches.

This week’s schedule included a meet at New Hampton on April 18, then at Crestwood on April 19. The girls will compete at Kee on April 21.
