The Central boys track and field team placed eighth in last week’s Decorah Boys Relays, after scoring 10 points on several top-10 finishes.

The Warriors got one of those points when Evan Schroeder finished sixth in the 100 meter dash, with a time of 12.01 seconds.

Jack Scherf crossed the line 10th in the 400, at 1:03.27, while teammate Vaughn Zittergruen was 12th. Scherf and Zittergruen also ran in the 800, finishing 14th and 15th, respectively.

The distance races produced another top result for Gavin Holst, who ran to seventh in the 1600.

Brayden Finley also added to the top-10 results with a 10th place mark in the 400 meter hurdles.

Additionally, the Warriors saw some success in the relays, including a sixth place effort in the 4x100, with the team of Sean Wilwert, Sharpe, William Moser and Schroeder earning one point. Central finished seventh in the 4x400 with Doeppke, Fettkether, Zittergruen and Scherf, while the group of Moser, McGreal, Finley and Wilwert earned two points with a fifth place finish in the 440-meter shuttle hurdle relay. Schroeder, Moser, Wilwert and Holst also earned two points with a fifth place finish in the 800-sprint medley relay.

Lastly, the Warriors earned four team points in the 1600 distance medley relay, when Wilwert, Logan Sharpe, Moser and Holst finished fourth.

In the field events, Schroeder finished ninth in the discus with a distance of 86-04. Dan McGreal was 10th with a distance of 70-06.50.

Sharpe was the Warriors’ top finisher in the long jump, coming in 12th with an effort of 16-01.75, followed by Carter Krugger in 14th.

Sam Fettkether finished 12th in the shot put with a throw of 31-01.00, while Kale Doeppke placed 13th.

The boys returned to the track on April 18, at Oelwein. They’ll also compete at Waukon on April 22.
