Al Fischer, 93, of Jacksonville, N.C. and formerly of Prairie du Chien, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 9, 2022. 

He was born on Nov. 2, 1928, to Jake and Loretta Fischer. He attended Campion High School and worked on a dairy farm before moving to La Crosse, where he drove truck for Ericson Bakery. He transferred to Florida before retiring to North Carolina. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and The Rotary Club. He married Gertrude Lowell on Sept. 18, 1948. After the divorce, he married Ellie Key on June 5, 1965. 

Al is survived by his children, Todd (Amy) of North Carolina, Jeannie of La Crosse, Mike (Cathy) of Chitek, Don of Stergeon Bay and Ed of Onalaska; grandchildren, great-grandchildren; sisters, Pat Taylor of Clinton, Mary Wilkinson of Duncan, Okla.; brother, John (Betty) Fischer of Prairie du Chien; sisters-in-law, Elaine Fischer, Peggy Ortez; brothers-in-law, Fred (Sandy) Key, Ivan (Janet) Key; and several nieces and nephews. 

He was proceeded in death by his wives, Gertrude and Ellie; parents, Jake and Loretta; brothers, Carl, Don, Bob, Dick and Frank; sisters, Loretta Calgon and Mamie Bluhm; sister-in-law, Deloris (Tootie) and Ann Fischer.
