David Davidson passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at his home in rural Wauzeka with his loving wife by his side.

David was born on April 17, 1950, to David R. and Ilene (Churchill) Davidson in Prairie du Chien. David graduated from Seneca High School in May of 1968. During his high school years, he was employed by Trautsch farms near Seneca. Shortly after graduation, David became an employee of the Crawford County Highway Department, beginning his 41-year career first as a patrolman, then a grader operator and ending his career as a supervisor prior to his retirement. On Dec. 14, 1968, David was united in marriage to Linda Kramer (Davidson). The couple had been together for 55 years, recently celebrating their 53rd wedding anniversary. Truly a lifetime of love, the couple had two children, Lisa Davidson Edge and Brenda Davidson.

Anyone who knew David knew of his love for his family, horses, team roping, team penning, hunting, fishing, camping and teaching all those who wanted to learn to rope and ride. David spent many days in the saddle, training horses, traveling throughout southwest Wisconsin entering rodeos, gaming and roping events. David was a member of the County Express Band (for over 30 years), West Grant Saddle Club (team roping competition), Boscobel Trap Shoot Club, Black Hawk Saddle Club, Gays Mills softball team, Vice President of LaRiviere Horse Park and hosted team roping competition at the Children’s Ranch. For many years, David traveled with his family (and horses) to Doc Menns ranch near Viroqua for the annual cattle round up, helping to drive the herd to the corrals to be branded and vaccinated. David once rescued a 5-year-old boy from drowning in the Mississippi River, rescued (on horseback) a hunter lost in the woods with a medical condition, and saved a friend’s family dog from the freezing Wisconsin River waters by roping the pet and bringing it to shore.

David is survived by his loving wife Linda, Wauzeka; daughter, Lisa (Aaron) Edge, Everton, Mo., Brenda Davidson, Wauzeka; grandchildren, Tiffany (Cody) Halverson, Ty Davidson (Brittany), Talyia Edge; all of Fennimore; great-grandchildren, Noah and Stetson Davidson; Fennimore; a brother, Lenny (Deb) Davidson, Prairie du Chien; sister, Judy Davidson, Richland Center; and many nieces and nephews.

David was preceeded in death by his parents, David and Ilene Davidson.

A celebration of life will be held at Century Hall in Wauzeka on Friday, March 11. Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. with services immediately follow. A meal will also be served after the services.
