Sharon Arlene (Horsfall) Martin, 83, of Prairie du Chien, passed away on Monday, Feb. 28, 2022, with her family by her side. 

She was born on Jan. 28, 1939, to Harry and Vera Arlene (Wetter) Horsfall and was the oldest of five children. Sharon grew up in Bridgeport, where she met Richard Martin, whom she would marry in 1971. She attended college in La Crosse and became a teacher and school librarian. She retired in 1996 from being the school librarian at B.A. Kennedy in Prairie du Chien. Sharon was an active member in her community and the Mt. Hope Methodist church. She will be remembered for her generosity, her love of family and her love of NASCAR. She will be deeply missed by many people whose lives she touched.

Sharon is survived by her husband, Richard Martin; her three sons, Craig (Lisa) Martin, Rick Martin, and Chad (Jaclyn) Fradette; her grandchildren, Malena, Claire, Abby, Nathaniel and Alden; her siblings, Marilyn (Gene) Stark, Janet Nichols, Joyce (Gordy) Kidd, and Larry (Mona) Horsfall; sister-in-law, Linda (Zorko) Clauder; and many special nieces and nephews. 

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Vera Arlene Horsfall; her husband’s parents, Clyde and Juanita Martin; and nephew Rick Koschkee. 

The family would like to give special thanks to Pastor Lance Wetter and his family; Kaylen, Sharon’s nurse at UW Health; Unity Hospice in De Pere; and all the thoughtful people who sent birthday cards and well wishes. 

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 5, at the Mt. Hope United Methodist Church in Mt. Hope. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Saturday morning. Immediately following the funeral service, there will be a time for food and fellowship. Burial will be held in the Bridgeport Cemetery, Prairie du Chien.
