On Friday night, 2/4, the Prairie du Chien boys basketball team hosted the Platteville Hillmen for an important conference matchup. The Hawks jumped out to a 5-0 lead to start the game and continued to lead for the entire game behind their stringent defense and by valuing the ball on offense. Scoring was limited as PDC held the Hillmen to 25% shooting from the field as well as 21% from the 3 thanks in part to their improved zone defense. Offensively, the Hawks showed patience running their swing offense to hold their lead and build on it in the second half. The Hawks won the contest 59-45 for their second win in conference behind a very impressive 23/25 from the free throw line. Seven Hawks got into the scoring column with Owen Oldenburg leading the way contributing 18 pts, Trent Mallat 9 points, Max Amundson 8 points, Justice Olmstead 8 points, Quintin Scott 7 points, Nick McCullick 6 points, and Tyler Harris with 3 points.

On Tuesday night, 2/8, the boys basketball team resumed non-conference play as they hosted the Westby Norsemen. Westby kept it close for the entire first half and much of the second half as the Hawks had an off shooting night. However, PDC relied once again on their defense, this time a man to man defense, to force 15 turnovers and score 14 points off of those turnovers. The Hawks showed great poise with the ball on offense as they only committed 7 turnovers and went 18/23 from the line to eventually grow their lead as the game winded down. The Hawks boys basketball team came out victorious 53-36 to win back-to-back games for the second time this season. Justice Olmstead posted a double-double tallying 16 points and 11 rebounds, Owen Oldenburg had 15 points, Quintin Scott 7 points, Max Amundson 6 points, Nick McCullick 5 points, and Tyler Harris 4 points. The PDC boys basketball team will now look to extend their win streak to three games as they travel to Richland Center on Thursday night looking for revenge after the Hornets took the first game in Prairie.

On Thursday night, the Prairie du Chien boys basketball team traveled to Richland Center to take on the Hornets in their second meeting of the season.

The Hornets jumped out to a 10-2 lead to start the game, but the Hawks were able to regain their composure to go up 21-19 into halftime despite a hostile Richland Center home crowd.

The second half was a back and forth battle that included many fouls and free throws for both teams.

The Hawks got great contributions from their bench as they outscored their opponents’ bench 27-9 while multiple starters battled foul trouble.

Prairie du Chien was able to pull away late, winning their third straight game with a final score of 51-41.

Freshman Nick McCullick led the team in scoring with 15 points. Owen Oldenburg had 10 points. Tyler Harris and Justice Olmstead each scored 9 points. Max Amundson netted 4 points, Trent Mallat had 3 points, and Quintin Scott scored 1 point.
